Privacy

The short version: I count page views, and nothing else — there's no account to make, nothing to submit, and nothing about you that I could look up. This site does carry ads, and the company serving them collects a good deal more than I do — that part is spelled out below rather than buried.

Advertising. This site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, measure them, and — depending on your settings and where you are — personalise them based on your previous visits to this site and others. Google explains what it does with data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can change what you see and how it's targeted at My Ad Center. I don't see anything Google collects — my end of it is a total earnings figure, not anything about individual visitors.

Cookies. The only cookies this site sets itself are the Google Analytics ones described below. Anything else you pick up here comes from the ad serving described above.

Analytics. This site counts page views using Google Analytics. It sets cookies on this domain (their names start with _ga) which hold a randomly generated ID for your browser, so repeat visits are counted as one browser rather than several. That ID isn't tied to your name or anything you've told me, because there's nothing here to tell me. Your IP address is used to work out roughly which country you're in and is then discarded rather than stored. What I see is aggregate — page views, rough location, which site sent you, whether you were on a phone or a desktop, how far down a page people get, and which outbound links get clicked. Google processes this as my data processor under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms, and also uses it to maintain the service. If you'd rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser add-on that switches it off everywhere at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

No accounts, comments, or forms. There's nothing to sign up for and nothing to submit, so there's nothing of yours stored here.

Hosting. This site is served as static files via Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare, as the infrastructure provider, may process standard connection data (like IP addresses) as part of ordinary request handling and security — the same as any site on the internet. That's governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy, not this one; I don't have access to that data myself.

RSS feed. The feed at /feed.xml is a plain file. It doesn't include tracking pixels or read receipts.

Outbound links. Articles link to books, blogs, and tools mentioned in the text. The analytics described above count that a link was clicked, so I can tell which recommendations people actually follow — as a tally, not as anything attached to you. Once you click through, you're on someone else's site, governed by their policy, not this one.

I'm not a lawyer, and this is the plain-English version rather than a legal document. If anything else ever gets added — a comment section, a mailing list, anything that collects more than what's described above — this page will change with it, and I'll say so plainly rather than bury it in an update.
